To ensure your flighted family member is healthy and lives the most productive life, they should have routine wellness appointments. We know that these pets have specific needs that are far different from other pets. That’s why our exotic pet focused doctors are here to treat all pets with the highest quality of care and medicine.

How Do Wellness exams work?

First, our team will perform a visual examination to determine your pet’s temperament prior to handling directly. Most of our avian patients will be some degree of stressed from car rides/transport and we want them to have the chance to settle in.

From there we’ll perform a head to tail examination of your pet including:

• Weight

• Head Assessment: eyes, tympanic membranes, nostrils, oral cavity and general mobility of head and neck.

• Body Assessment: auscultation of thoracic cavity and caudal air sacs, coelomic palpation, skin and feather inspection, neurologic health, limb palpation, wing range of motion and palpation, and urogenital inspection.

• Wing, Nail and Beak Trims if needed.

• Organ Health: bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, and fecal testing all available for routine wellness and for sick pets.
